Description
The Hoatzin is one of the most unusual birds in the world.
The chicks have two claws on each wing.
As soon as they hatch they can use them to scramble about the tree
But why would they?
Mom’s about to feed them a special regurgitated meal
Like all Hoatzin she uses bacteria to ferment vegetation in her gut
This is pretty much like a cow
The only drawback: the process leaves the bird with an unpleasant manure-like odor
And a less than desirable nickname: Stinkbird
