Description
To quote Rodney Dangerfield, this wildflower gets no respect.
The pioneers thought the balloon-like calyx reminded them of an animal's bladder (!)
So they called it Bladder Campion.
Then the botanists added insult to injury.
They classified this beauty as Silene Vulgaris.
Vulgaris? Common? Really?
Cowbell isn't much better.
Maiden's Tears on the other hand is moving in the right direction.
