Description
There are a lot of split personalities in the plant world
On the surface this is a delicate wildflower:
It's an early bloomer so it brings joy after a dreary winter
And sadly it disappears too quickly
The petals fall off a day or two after pollination
However below the surface is a whole heap of trouble
Bloodroot has an orange colored rhizome in which it stores sap
That sap contains a toxin, sanguinarine
It's been known to kill and it'll badly burn the skin
Pretty poison
